Lasar’s work relies heavily upon line and color that create rich and energetic surfaces that reflect her mastery of technique. The ‘Deer Isle Series’ focuses on new directions in subject matter that have lead her from her trademark abstract landscape work into figuration and pure abstraction which both mark a dramatic evolution in her investigation of image and printmaking. Her use of the traditional woodcut technique of printmaking lends itself to a zen quality of expression that focuses on distilled ideas and mark-making that are powerful, meaningful and direct. |
