Opening on October 8 at New Arts Gallery will be "21 x 21", new works by Elizabeth MacDonald . This exhibition will continue until October 31, 2005.
The works in this exhibition explore the restriction of working within a given size, 21"x21". MacDonald's ceramic works continue to experiment with surface, image, color and line. Linear compositions weave throughout. Irregularly shaped tiles form intricate designs and images that impart a dynamic energy to each work. Also included with her ceramic pieces will be photographs and cast pieces inspired by antiquated walls from her recent visit to Vietnam.
Also currently on exhibit in the Lower gallery is "Park Benches", black and white photographs by Shel Secunda. All of the photographs were taken over a period of several summer months during lunch hour. Most were in Union Square Park and Washington Square Park in New York City, chosen for the diversity and colorfulness of their occupants.
